D'Aprile experiences the highs and lows of Drag Racing in one weekend

Tommy D'Aprile came into the ADRL Hardees Georgia Drags VI, to drive for Mel Eaves instead of car owner Mel Bush who decide to park his car for one race while he searched for the right tuner for his team. D'Aprile made 2 appearances at Hardees on Thursday with the Mel Eaves 68 nitro injected Camaro. "Being given the opportunity to make this appearance and meet some fans and let them sit in the car was really special." said D'Aprile. All the fans that came out, were really interested in the car and the nitro injection and how fast it would run."

D'Aprile sat out the first qualifying session while some small modifications were made for him to be comfortable inside the car. During the third qualifier Tommy got a little more excitement than he bargained for when the car lost a oil line took a hard left and impacted the wall head on before bursting into flames when the nitro ignited, then once again hitting the wall on the right side and coming to rest in the middle of the track." Thankfully D'Aprile was uninjured in the accident, and found himself grateful to Graham Jones of the Spiro Pappas team for jumping the fence and helping him out of the car just seconds before the safety squad reached him.

"I really wasn't worried about the crash because I believe that its all gonna be ok I try to be optimistic and have faith in the world I am part of, I knew the safety equipment would do its job and the safety squad would check me out. I am ready to get back to the track." said D'Aprile. Getting back to the track will hopefully include a test session before the ADRL US Drags III in Richmond Virginia on May 21 and 22. "Its important for us to test, as we are teaming up with Quain Stott for the rest of the season as he takes over tuning duties for Mel Bush Motorsports." I have the utmost confidence in Quain Stott having teamed with him before, so his addition to this team has me as a driver more excited than ever."

Mel Bush Motorsports would like to thank Bush and Sons Construction, and NGK Spark Plugs,

Changes In Store For Mel Bush Motorsports And Driver Tommy D'Aprile In 2010

Mel Bush Motorsports has hired Billy Gibson as the new tuner. Tommy D'Aprile is very excited at the prospect of working with Billy. Billy and I have spent some time getting to know each other and I feel like we are really on the same page in our driving styles. I look forward to running ADRL Pro Extreme next season, and setting some records.

Despite Early Exit D'Aprile Continues To Move Up Points Ladder

DSB_7374.jpgDINWIDDIE, VA -The Mel Bush Motorsports team entered the ADRL NATIONALGUARD.com U.S. Drags II 12th in points and was looking to make a big move up the ladder but lady luck had other ideas.

With qualifying shortened to only two sessions teams struggled to get a handle on the Virginia Motorsports Park surface; Mel Bush Motorsports was one of the teams. Crew Chief Kevin Peters took a conservative approach on the team's first hit.

"I just wanted to get her down the track. I needed the data and knew our soft setup would give us that," said Peters.

Luckily their "soft" setup netted a 3.923 elapsed time and placed him10th in the provisional field.

Mel Bush Motorsports Look To Re-Gain Winning Form In Virginia

DSCN2501.jpgELMA, NY - After not qualifying at the last ADRL event in Topeka the Mel Bush Motorsports team too stock of the situation and chalked it up as a lesson learned.

"Topeka is behind us and the only thing good that came from it is we learned what NOT to do. Other than that we're moving forward," said team owner Mel Bush. "We're still in the hunt to make the top eight and from here on out we need to eliminate anything that can hurt us."

Team Driver Tommy D'Aprile echoed the boss' sentiments. "We have four races left before Dallas and the "Battle for the Belts"; I know we have the right combination of equipment and people to get the job done. We just need to set a goal, focus on it, and not look back," said D'Aprile.
